Thomas William Davis, Jr.
Painter • Sculptor • Dreamer
3rd Generation Myrtle Beach Local
Thomas Davis is a creator and lover of fine arts. He is also grounded as a successful businessman and art gallery owner. It takes hard work to achieve what Davis has already created. He is represented in many parts of the world. His success can be credited by uniting business and creativity.
Davis began studying at USC for business and attended Clemson University from 1981 – 1984, earning a business degree upon graduation. From 1984 – 1986, Davis earned an Associates of Art degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta. After completing an internship with Camp Communications, Davis went on to become an Art Director for Davis Advertising. When not using his artistic talents at work, he spent the next seven years honing his painting skills.
Davis had always dreamed of creating paintings from his travels and experiences to sell on the walls of a European styled cafe and gallery in the southern United States. With the help of family and friends, his idea soon became a reality.
On May 17th, 1994, Collector’s Cafe was born. Myrtle Beach was ready and waiting for a place that expressed culture through food, wine and original art.
In addition to selling over 380 original oil paintings through his gallery, Davis has continued to support local and national artists by selling many of their paintings over the last 20+ years.
Many of his works of art hang in private and corporate collections. Davis also donates several paintings each year to various charities.
His travels have taken him through many countries and across many cultures. Each painting expresses an internal passion that grows with each journey. He often compares his own Low Country along the shore with the south of France.
Showing no signs of slowing down, Thomas Davis is a truly passionate and collectible artist. His original creations have been exhibited throughout the United States, including galleries in Manhattan, Palm Springs and Charleston, SC.
